A Weary World Rejoices | Week 2
Anyone else ready for Christmas cheer? Our collective 2020 seems to be one big “weary world”. All of us are looking hopefully ahead to a new year. But what if skipping over the rest of 2020 is a missed opportunity to find the hope we all desperately need? What if the story of Scripture is inviting us to take a deeper look at our own story, and inviting our “weary world” to actually “rejoice”, even when it seems impossible? Join us in December as we journey through Isaiah and discover the whole (and controversial) story of Christmas - one that’s worth celebrating.

Passages:
Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. Genesis 3:21 NIV The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
John 1:29 NIV The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
